What a roller coaster this past number of days has been.

Thursday began with the phone call in the early afternoon telling me that my ride to Birka was not going to happen.  Valid reasons, but..CRAP.

I posted such to my fb page.  Got a *what the hell* call from Albreda. :-)  About an hour later, she called and asked how long it would take me to get ready...Owyn was coming up to get me.  It took me a moment to wrap my head around that and...agreed.  So..hurried shower and a rush to get all my mundanes packed and everything staged for removal.

My arrangements to get to Ernie and Linda after Birka was arranged (bless you Meredith).  The room arrangement changed often enough that by the time I got to the hotel,  while there were still three of us in the room, I was the only original member. *grin*

It was lovely to see my courtesy grandkids and to spend time with Owyn and Albreda as well. :-)  the girls give up their room for me. :-)  And man oh man, did they all do a good job on that  room.  Friday saw us off to Birka. The ride was harrowing for me, but Owyn is an excellent driver and was very patient with my terrors. :-)

Dinner with chosen family was awesome.  Birka was a blur.  New protegee was acquired.  I don't know if there are pictures. :-(  Dinner Sat. night at JD's with more chosen family. :-)

Sunday, after breakfast and FINALLY tracking down Meredith in the garage (grin), we hit the road for Danbury.  It was an easy drive.  We actually beat Ernie home.  I gave up my key to the Peconderosa too early apparently. :-)   Off to visit Linda for a few minutes which was the whole purpose of the trip.  I came away feeling better than before.  She is very thin but her spirit is good and her eyes are bright. :-)

We picked up Chinese food for dinner (very tasty) and settled in to watch the last of the Harry Potter movies.  I was a little disappointed in the ending..too vanilla.  But the rest of the movie was great.

Monday had me and Mer heading back to Burlington and another night at A;breda's.  I got to watch Captain America.  Captain America.  It was fun, but I get the feeling that it was made so that he could be part of the upcoming Avengers movie.  Not one that I'd bother rewatching. but it was fun.  At one point, Buddy got a trifle..concerned.. so he climbed up into the chair with me and cuddled for the rest of it. :-)  Really lovely. :-)

8:30 am today brought Meredith to pick me up and after picking up a few things at Hannafords, we hit the road.  I was home around noon and after trying some Barley tea (not a winner), Mer headed back to Burlington.  Her timing was perfect as the full storm began about 2 hours later.

Phyllis from CleanSweepers came at 1 and I now have clean laundry, clean bedding and a sort of clean home. :-)

I left a message at my GP's office after seeing the weather for tomorrow.  Cancelled my 10:30 appointment.  Walking out in freezing rain on top of 10cm or so of snow is NOT high on my list of things to do.

I had an absolutely fabulous weekend.  I overdid everything (off the nightshades..I mean it) and I couldn't care less. *grin*  It was well worth every bit of pain. :-)

I figure that I can recover sufficiently in the next 15 days to survive the train ride to and from Toronto.. Dad's gonna have a 97th B'day party on the 18th. :-)  I've decided to spring for a (relatively) inexpensive hotel closer to my Dad's.  I've asked my brother to check out the possibilities. It will simply be easier on everyone...especially me. :-)
