Non Scadians won't be interested. :-)

A new ruling has come down from the BoD's aerie.  People under the age of 18 are not permitted to attend classes without a parent present.

Now, needless to say, I'm somewhat miffed.  Not that I'm going to Pennsic again, but, it's the principal of the thing.  How did an educational group suddenly become a mockery of everything it's suposed to stand for?

In it's never ending fear of being involved in a lawsuit, this is what its done.  I wonder if there is anywhere else that compels parents to accompany their children to school, 

Are there predators out there?  Hell yes.  But you don't punish the very people you are trying to protect by enclosing them in sanitized, padded little rooms where nothing can touch them.  How can they learn and grow?  How can they become functioning, competent adults if they don't learn anything but fear and mistrust?

Yes protect them with knowledge and common sense.  Not with cotton balls n their eyes, ears and noses.

So, being the good little anarchist that I am, I am wondering something.

What would happen if the teachers for Pennsic refused to abide by this new restriction?  What would happen if they refused to teach.  What would happen if a large number of Scadian adults refused to accept this unjust,  ridiculous and so obviously self serving rule?

Would Pennsic continue?  Isn't the SCA an educational organization?  Who are we supposed to be educating?  If the young aren't being allowed to learn, then why bother?  What are we doing here? 

I'm sorry, but, in my opinion,  the BoD is destroying the SCA.  Slowly but surely.
