I, like everyone else on LJ, and elsewhere, am eternally grateful to those men and women who have served and now serve in armed services for their various countries.
I've never served. But I have been a civilian in a war zone and it sucks very large scummy rocks.
My eldest is named after a friend from kibbutz who was killed in the War of Attrition in Israel. My younger son's name means Gift of God. When he was born, my first thought was that at least I might be able to keep one.
I don't wish that thought on anybody else.
We are all the same inside. No matter the colour of our skin, our religion, sexual preferences, or anything else. We are all people. We all come from the same origins...the differences are skin deep. That's all. No one is better. No god is better. No one is less. No god is less. There is enough food for everyone, if we could learn to share. There's enough water for everyone, if we could learn to share. There's enough of everything for everybody, if we could learn to share.
(((((HUGS)))
I want my children to see the end of a need for soldiers..anywhere.
