It was wonderful. It was so great to get out on the road again. However, I did learn a very important lesson.... I probably shouldn't do this again alone. It's really tough to have to stand and put gas into BoB and to walk to pay and to the bathroom. I can't manipulate the chair by myself either. :-(

I need to go to next weekend's event, but if I don't have someone to go down with me, I'll have to cancel.

so...the weekend..

Rayawolfsun was wonderful and let Suelet set up their camp bed in her living room so that I wouldn't have climb stairs. Thank you for everything, Hon.

got to the event Saturday at about 8:30 and there were a whole bunch of folks who set me up..well..emptied BoB and put everything where I wanted it. Then Val got her 10 X 10 set up right in the middle of the booth so that I would have shade. It was so great to see everybody. The weather was excellent, if somewhat hot and humid. Until pack up. then it began to spit on and off. Everyone scrambled and got the silks under cover. Somebody put a large cloak or something over the silk/linen rack. Wonderful... thank you so much.

Suelet was inside and there were a whole bunch of folks helping. I was directing..sort of and trying to stay out from underfoot. I felt very very short. :-)

Once BoB was all packed up, it was time for court which was held inside in the hockey arena (no ice). Two of the guys picked me up in the wheel chair and set me down inside the rink. :-) I know one of them was Ansfrid. *waves thanks*

I got to roll up as a Pelican when a very wonderful lady was called up. :-) It was great.

Oh...and the whole of Petrea Thule, the host group, was called up into court. They were given their third 3RD kingdom service award. Not individuals (most already have them), the entire Canton of Petrea Thule. I've never heard of that before. It was awesome, and very well deserved.

Then...the crowning touch....feast was up two flights of stairs. I had been informed that 4 gentlemen had offered to carry me, chair and all, up those two flights of stairs so I could join everyone at feast. It was ... terrifying. But they did it. And with humour yet. :-)

Feast was wonderful, what I could eat of it. The lamb and chicken smelled delicious. I was very proud of me. :-)

then I got to help drying dishes until the gentlemen from the flight up decided that they better get me down while they still had the strength. There were only three of them this time..one on each side and one in back. I closed my eyes again. :-) they set me down quite gently, again.

Such Thuligans. :-)

So... went out for breakfast and then hit the road. I filled up at one of the roadside joints where they had full serve, and after hitting the loo, set off for home again.

I arrived about an hour earlier than I expected and luckily, Cos and Chrissie were home. I picked up Cos and he got me and my crap upstairs...they put off dinner so he could do that. I am so tremendously lucky in my family.

And that was that. I got home..laid down for a bit.. ordered dinner which, since it was soo late getting to me, only cost me $20. :-) And now...I'm going to go to bed..drugs are a good thing. I find that if I take two of the muscle relaxants, I sleep through the night. :-)

And.. just in case anyone wondered, I didn't have any more pain in my travels than I would have had if I had stayed home. What I did get was a huge emotional boost. :-)

A very fair tradeoff.

Now...anyone want to go down to Midsummer's Faire with me on Friday?
