Once more, Mother Nature, the perverse bitch, has decided to dump all the snow that we haven't had all winter on top of us starting tonight..here in IDD.
Plus, we are actually going to be in between two storms...the one from Iowa which is presently abusing south Western and central Ontario. Apparently, there are thunder storms which are supposed to hit Windsor area any time now. The other storm is something coming in from New England. Thanks, guys. You really shouldn't have. No...really. Not so much. Any how, the two fronts have decided to hold a meet and greet here on our own Island, eh. (snicker)
So, due to these two wonderful occurrences, I have decided that I will not be travelling the 9 hours to KW for Winter War in London, Ontario tomorrow. Somehow, the idea of fighting white outs, winds up to 70km/hr, possible freezing rain and stupid drivers who feel they really do need to drive 130km/hour (who cares if they can't see where they're going..the point is to get there before everyone else. Right?) just doesn't thrill me. Since I intend to live forever, I feel it only fair of me to do whatever is within my power to enable this.
Of course, I could wake up tomorrow and find that everything has passed us by...in which case, I'll pop everything in BoB, call various people and hit the road. Unfortunately, I already cancelled the bagel, smoked meat and knish order so.... that's life. :-)
All this insanity leads nicely into what I REALLY want to say.
Please, Please be careful out there tonight, tomorrow and the rest of the weekend. Wherever you are. It's much better to arrive late than not to arrive at all. It's not a contest or a race, friends. And if you are someplace where you can crash...wrong word...cancel that. If you are somewhere and you can remain there until it's safe to travel, please do so. And thank whoever for me as well.
Remember seat belts..for everyone in the vehicle. Fully charged cell phones and don't use them while driving. Make sure you have blankets, food, water, candles and fire for them, books, games, whatever. If you are in one of these storms and you go off the road...for gods sake people, stay in the vehicle. Whiteouts cause death. And yes, I know someone who died that way...on the 401. I don't want to know two someones.
Remember...this is a game. A hobby.
Drive safely. Arrive at both destinations (there and home) safely. Have fun wherever you are and remember to hug the ones you care about. And maybe someone who's not the nicest person in the world...they might become a little nicer if more folk did that. :-)
Hugs and skritches
